Use hand sanitizers when required or wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Choose well-cooked meals and sealed bottled beverages instead of food and beverages from shady sources.

Wear high-SPF sunscreen and protective clothing, such as a broad-brimmed hat and sunglasses, and seek shade during the warmest hours of the day. These simple steps will help prevent conditions caused by heat and sunburns.

While the picturesque Jordan Valley, bustling Aqaba, and the healing Dead Sea have more mild climates, other sections of this wonderful land are embraced by steep uplands, bringing a particular beauty that may encourage a touch of chilliness during the winter months.

Some of the sites need you to be in good physical condition. It is 8 kilometers from the visitor center to the base of Petra and back, so comfortable walking shoes are a must.
