Itinerary | ||
Pickup from your Dead Sea accommodation in the early morning. Drive to Mt. Nebo, which is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Mt. Nebo is a biblically significant location where Moses is claimed to have glimpsed the Promised Land. The Franciscan Church on the mountain’s peak gives breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Drive from Mt. Nebo to Madaba, which is roughly 20 minutes distant. Madaba is famous for its historic mosaics, notably the Madaba Map, a Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land dating from the sixth century. When you’ve finished touring Madaba, take a 2.5-hour drive to Petra. Petra is a world-famous archaeological site distinguished for its rock-cut structures and breathtaking desert vistas. Arrive at Petra and take a guided tour of the site to view the monuments cut into the cliffs, such as the Treasury and Amphitheatre. After touring Petra, stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing on to the Dead Sea, which is around 3 hours away. Enjoy the gorgeous journey back to your accommodation while reflecting on the wonderful views you’ve seen throughout the day. Please bear in mind that this schedule is fairly demanding and may include a significant amount of walking and trekking. |
