Itinerary

Day 1: Jerash, Umm Qais, Pella

Jerash: Step Back in Time

  • Start your day by exploring the ancient city of Jerash, known as the “Pompeii of the East.”
  • Wander through the well-preserved ruins of temples, amphitheaters, and colonnaded streets.
  • Marvel at the impressive architecture and imagine life in this bustling Roman city.

Umm Qais: Gateway to the Decapolis

  • Head to Umm Qais, another ancient city rich in history and culture.
  • Take in panoramic views of the Sea of Galilee, the Yarmouk River, and the Golan Heights.
  • Visit the archaeological site and discover the remnants of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman civilizations.

Pella: A Hidden Gem

  • Conclude your day with a visit to Pella, a lesser-known but equally captivating archaeological site.

Day 2: Ajloun, Tel Mar Elias in Anjara

  • Learn about the castle’s role in defending the region from Crusader attacks.

Tel Mar Elias in Anjara: A Spiritual Journey

  • End your itinerary with a visit  to Anjara, which is mentioned in the Bible as the site where Jesus, his mother Mary, and his disciples went through before resting in a nearby cave.
  • Explore the cave, which has long been a holy spot for pilgrims, is now remembered with a new shrine/church dedicated to Our Lady of the Mountain.
  • Take a moment to reflect on one of Jordan’s largest Byzantine churches and an old center of pilgrimage, devotion, and interfaith cooperation, is located up the twisting roads from Wahadneh village.

Dress Code
